Salve Regina
The Glories of Early Renaissance
in England

Created during the transition from the late Medieval to the early Renaissance, the music of the Eton Choirbook is unique in style and effect, sometimes sparsely minimalist, sometimes richly florid and lush. Its devotional intent paired with truly virtuosic compositional style for a cappella voices is a testament to the skill of the singers of English college chapels. In addition to Lenten and Marian selections from the Eton Choirbook, TEMP will perform selections from the Fayrfax Manuscript with texts devoted to the veneration of Christ and Mary.

TEMP soloists Jenifer Thyssen, Jennifer Murray, Stephanie Prewitt, David Stevens, Jeffrey Jones Ragona, Gil Zilkha, and Robert Harlan, will be joined by Temmo Korisheli, tenor from Santa Barbara, and others to create a small chorus of twenty-five voices.

This exceptionally beautiful music will be performed in the visually and aco
ustically magnificent space of St. Mary Cathedral, as part of TEMP's ninth season and as part of the first year of the Cathedral's Musica Ecclesiæ series.
