Jonathan Brumley |
Jonathan Brumley began studying keyboard in 1985 with Dr. Donald Sanders at Samford University. In 1995, he took up the study of early music and since then has performed on lute, harpsichord and early wind instruments. Mr. Brumley has performed and recorded with a number of groups, including the Texas Early Music Project,
Passing Measures, Istampitta, and The Killer Bees,
whose performance at the Boston Early Music Festival received complimentary reviews by
The New York Times and Early Music America. In 2006, with
his wife Amy Brumley, he co-directed "The Faithful Pilgrim Lover", a
Commedia del Arte styled theatre performance at the Texas TOOT early music
festival. He has enjoyed accompanying vocal masterclasses on lute and
harpsichord at the Amherst Early Music and Texas TOOT festivals. He owes
his love for early music to his teachers Scott Horton, Ron McFarlane, Paul
O'Dette, Stephen Stubbs, and Bruce Brogden (lute), Andrew Lawrence King
(continuo), Jan Jackson (recorder), and Daniel Johnson. Mr. Brumley lives in Austin with
beloved Amy and daughter Eleanor. During the day
he develops measurement software at National
Instruments. |
