Founded in 1987 by Daniel Johnson, the Texas Early Music Project is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music through performance, recordings, and educational outreach.

Laurie Young Stevens is an active performer on both modern and period instruments. She is a member of the Texas Early Music Project, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the Festival Orchestra for the Göttingen Handel Festival in Germany, La Follia Austin Baroque, the Orchestra of St. David’s, and Fleurs-de-LYS. In recent years she has performed for the Promenade Series or “Proms” at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Edinburg Music Festival in Scotland, the Concertgebow in Amsterdam, Lincoln Center Carnegie Hall and many other festivals. The summer of 2011 will see Ms. Stevens performing at the Ravinnia Festival, Tanglewood Summer Music Festival, Lincoln Center, Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and in Germany with the Festival Orchestra.

She has studied with Elizabeth Blumenstock, Manfredo Kraemer, Daniel Johnson, and Paul Leenhouts. Her instruments include a c.1720 Anonymous French violin, a 1997 Rowland Ross from London, England, an 1854 Joseph Heaps also from London and a 1927 Juzcek from the Czech Republic. Laurie lives in the Austin area with her husband, David Stevens.
