Peter Lohman, tenor
Peter Lohman first performed with Texas Early Music Project in 1991 and has returned on numerous occasions, including the Notre-Dame concert of 2008 (Medieval Vespers for Mary) and various cds, including “The Bonny Broom” and “Northern Nights.”
Peter was born and raised in New York City, attended Oberlin College and Ohio State University and holds degrees in Philosophy, Music Composition, and Music Theory. Peter has been High Holidays cantorial soloist at Congregation Beth Israel since 2003. When time permits, he also composes secular and sacred music, and was recently recognized by Shalshelet, The Foundation for New Jewish Liturgical Music, for two new compositions, “Yih’yu L’ratzon” and “Shalom Rav.” He is planning a recital of songs by Gabriel Faure and himself in the coming year.
Peter also studied Computer Science at SUNY Institute of Technology and has been employed as a software developer in Austin since 1984. He currently works at Pervasive Software, a small Austin-based company.
